Paul Heinzlreiter studied Computer Science at Johannes Kepler University Linz and works in Data Intelligence.
What is your Educational Background?
After graduating from Bundesgymnasium Steyr, I studied Computer Science at Johannes Kepler University Linz.
What Motivated You to Pursue Technical Studies?
Towards the beginning of my high school years, a computer found its way into our home. It was, of course, an exciting device, and so I privately delved deeper into the subject, working my way from application programs and the operating system to simple programming tasks. That’s why, after graduating high school, I decided to study Computer Science.
How Long Have You been Working at RISC Software GmbH?
I have been working at RISC Software GmbH in the Data Intelligence department since September 2010.
What are your Responsibilities at RISC Software GmbH?
Since application-oriented research is also conducted in the Data Intelligence department, I have a very exciting and varied range of tasks. It spans from software development for commercial and research projects, to writing scientific publications and project proposals, as well as coordination tasks and preparing reports for research projects.
What Do You like about your Job?
What I generally like about computer science is that you can model and process many different real-life situations on a computer, providing a very versatile tool. This, of course, also means constantly acquiring new domain knowledge and gaining insight into various fields. Similarly, technological progress in computer science requires continuous further education, offering the opportunity to always learn about new exciting technologies. Furthermore, I find it very pleasant that my range of tasks doesn’t solely consist of programming, but also offers other opportunities within research projects, such as writing scientific publications.
Would You Choose to Study Engineering Again?
Absolutely, I’m happy about this decision every single day.
