What is your Educational Background?
I graduated from the Franciscan Sisters’ Upper Secondary School in Vöcklabruck and subsequently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Medical and Bioinformatics at Hagenberg University of Applied Sciences. This year, I completed my Master’s degree in Biomedical Informatics.
What Motivated You to Pursue Technical Studies?
Despite my rather music-oriented educational background (Music Middle School, State Music School, arts-focused track in high school), I was always interested in technology and natural sciences. When I was faced with the decision of pursuing a music degree or a technical one, I realized that the latter offered better career opportunities and a variety of interesting study programs. Plus, I could continue my musical activities on the side anyway.
How Long Have You been Working at RISC Software GmbH?
In spring/summer 2013, I worked at RISC Software GmbH for five months alongside my studies. After a research internship in the USA, I have been employed there again since September 2014.
What are your Responsibilities at RISC Software GmbH?
I work in the logistics department on software for Automated Guided Vehicles. To familiarize myself with the project, I tested code and analyzed the data structures and algorithms behind it. This was a good starting point, because afterwards I could get hands-on and fix the bugs I found or implement new functionality.
What Do You like about your Job?
You are confronted daily with new, exciting tasks and challenges. Sometimes the problems are very complex, and it takes a while until a solution is satisfactory. But when you achieve this, it’s a great feeling. It rarely gets boring. 🙂
Would You Choose to Study Engineering Again?
Absolutely.
