Sandra Wartner studied Biomedical Informatics at FH Hagenberg and works as a Data Scientist at RISC Software GmbH.
With my Bachelor’s degree in “Bio- and Medical Informatics” and the subsequent Master’s degree in “Biomedical Informatics” from FH Hagenberg, I was well-equipped for my career start.
I can only recommend a technical degree to everyone, and especially to women. Exciting subject areas, teamwork in various project teams, and constantly new challenging tasks ensure a diverse and varied work life.
The FH>>next career fair, organized annually by FH Hagenberg, offers a great opportunity to directly connect with companies and discuss ongoing projects with their employees. It was there that I learned about the focus areas of RISC Software GmbH, which piqued my interest in applying.
As a Data Scientist in the Data Management and Analytics competence area, I am involved in various customer and research projects focusing on data analysis. My other activities include writing scientific publications and giving presentations to share knowledge in the field of data analysis.
The variety – here, you don’t have a normal, boring office job where you routinely follow the same workflows every day. The diverse requirements and tasks necessitate continuous self-development. It’s rare to work and research on the same or a similar task, and that’s precisely what makes the work so exciting.
The collaboration between men and women works very well, and mutual respect positively influences the working atmosphere. The proportion of female technicians has already risen to almost one-third. Furthermore, research projects like “FEMPowered@RISC” and “RISCveryity” offer numerous training opportunities (including leadership and conflict management training) that foster women’s strengths and facilitate their advancement into and entry into project management positions.
